30 years after liberation and 23 years after unification, on September 22, 1908. Bulgaria also declares its Independence. The act was announced with a special manifesto in the old capital, and Prince Ferdinand assumed the title of Tsar of Bulgaria. A prayer for the prosperity of the Bulgarian state was served. Independence was recognized by Turkey and the Great Powers the following year, 1909, in April. Before this recognition, however, our country is threatened by a new war. The king and the government showed the Ottoman Empire that they were ready to go to war by mobilizing the army, but preferred to settle the dispute peacefully. The Great Powers at this moment are not ready for a large-scale war, and everyone's goal is for Bulgarian independence to be recognized diplomatically. After signing a series of protocols to settle the financial problems between Bulgaria, Turkey and Russia, Turkey renounced all financial claims to Bulgaria, and Russia forgave Turkey's debts from the war of 1877-1878.

After the Act of Independence, our country achieved international authority. Thrace and Macedonia, the last remaining Bulgarian lands under Turkish rule, must be liberated. Our country is already on an equal footing with other European countries, and the conditions are beginning to be created for this liberation to happen. Bulgaria becomes a kingdom and a full participant in international relations.
